The total APS is the sum of the achievement ratings of the six school subjects. Life Orientation is not counted in the calculation of the total APS

When calculating your APS, it's important to note that universities have their own unique methods of calculating APS. For example, at WITS, the APS calculation is based on the best seven subjects, including Life Orientation. Their scale of achievement is different from that of the NSC, with NSC you have a scale of 1 to 7 with 1 representing (0-29), 2(30-39), 3(40-49), 4(50-59), 5(60-69), 6(70-79), 7(80-100) , while Wits has a scale of 0 to 8 with 0 representing (0-39), 3(40-49),4(50-59) 5(60-69), 6(70-79), 7(80-89), 8(90-100).
