UJ APS Requirements

UJ APS is the sum of achievement ratings for six subjects. Life Orientation is shown but not counted in the total. UJ APS Calculation Method

The University of Johannesburg uses a specific method to calculate your Admission Point Score (APS).

How UJ Calculates Your APS:

Subject 1: Mathematics (any mathematics subject)
Subject 2: Life Orientation (automatically set, not included in calculation)
Subject 3: Home Language (any language subject)
Subject 4: First Additional Language (FAL - any language subject)
Subjects 5-7: Three additional subjects of your choice
Calculation: Uses your best 6 subjects (excluding Life Orientation)

Important Note

The university uses a standard APS scoring system where higher percentages earn more points. Most programs require an APS between 23-35 depending on the field of study.
