The Thapelo Madibeng Bursary Scheme – 2026 Applications Now Open
South African UNEMPLOYED students are invited to apply for a bursary to study towards a built-environment qualification at a public institution of higher learning within South Africa.
This bursary aims to provide financial assistance for:
Tuition fees
Prescribed textbooks
Accommodation and meals
Transport fees (with conditions)
Research allowance (Masters and PhD students only)
Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a South African citizen
Be currently unemployed
Intend to study towards a built-environment qualification in a South African public institution
Have achieved a minimum overall average of 50%
Have a total household income of less than R600,000 per annum
Mandatory Documents Required
To apply, students must submit:
Certified ID Copy
Matric Certificate / Statement of Results (for first-year applicants)
Latest academic record (for second or subsequent years)
Proof of acceptance from a public tertiary institution (first-time and returning students)
Certified Parents’/Guardians’ ID documents
Parents’/Guardians’ proof of income (latest payslip etc.)
Affidavit as proof of unemployment
Important Notes
Applications must be submitted via INDICIUM – no emailed applications will be accepted.
All attachments must be uploaded and clear.
This bursary is strictly for the 2026 academic year and for South African unemployed students.
Only public institutions will be considered.
